GeoSIM Dual - One SIM, Two numbers, USA and UK
Free incoming calls in the USA on your mobile
GeoSIM is about to release its latest version of Global SIM card. It will have two phone numbers, a US one and UK based one. But the major benefit is that incoming calls will be free in the USA.
Currently incoming call charges are in between of £0.50 and £1.00 per minute for any “foreign” mobiles roaming in the USA. But with the new GeoSIM Dual, incoming calls will be free in the USA as they are in Europe and many other countries GeoSIM covers.
GeoSIM Dual will be able to register on more than one network effectively giving it better coverage than the likes of AT&T and T-Mobile country wide.
Up until now, travellers to the USA have had to pay for incoming calls to mobiles and paid higher charges for making calls. These high charges are due to local networks charging what is called a “Mobile Termination Charge”, or MTC. This is an additional charge on top of the normal call rate which is normally just a few cents. The MTC makes up the majority of the total call cost.
By cleverly “getting rid of” the MTC, GeoSIM can now offer sensible calling and receiving costs in the US for travellers and business people.
The USA will effectively become part of Europe in terms of the GeoSIM call rates, meaning the same price to call anywhere within the US or Europe and with calls being received for free.
The convenience of having a US number and a UK number is huge for anyone who regularly travels between the two countries as it allows the “locals” to call on the relevant country specific number.
Launch date is scheduled for late March, early April. A great deal of interest has already been shown in GeoSIM Dual, with pre release orders already being received from end users, resellers and distributors.
